TESTIMONIALS - REMEDIAL READING

With Reading A-Z, I have been able to extend a reading remediation program that did not include instructional reading levels to a program that now provides reading for every child at his or her own instructional level. The number of books in each level is appropriate, and so many of them are non-fiction. The amount of research that has gone into your program is immense. Your researchers and writers not only know what is current in research, but also your work accurately implements the research. The fact that you are updating materials and have added the comprehension and fluency components makes your program totally unbeatable. Reading A-Z does what no canned reading program can--it meets the need to instruct at the correct level of any child. Reading A-Z provides books at every independent level as well. Reading A-Z is not only wonderful for students, but also for teachers.  It's all there!

I work with first-grade students. I have two students who read slightly below grade level and three who read far below grade level. I let one group plug into Reading A-Z books while I read with the other group. I have used the fluency passages with my better readers to assess their progress on short-term objectives on their IEPs. I have found your program to be most useful.

I just wanted to let you know how invaluable your Web site has become to me. I teach remedial students from K-5. We are a poor rural district, and I paid for the subscription out of my own personal funds. It has been worth every penny, and I would have gladly paid more. I am able to find books that are perfect for my students' reading levels as well as their interests. I also use the decodable books to help my students focus on particular sounds.

I’m a remedial teacher always struggling to find appropriate reading materials for a broad range of abilities. How happy I am with your site.

I work with a few remedial readers in grades 3 and 4. They are at a variety of reading levels (from E to G). Your resources allow me to challenge each and every one of them. They really look forward to Thursdays because it's Reading Day, and they get to read and explain their books to me. They know that they have to practice throughout the week to get the books for their personal collections and to share with their classmates. They think it's a great privilege to own the books. I had one student who was doing so well that he was taken out of the remedial class. He loves the books so much he keeps coming back to see if there are any more in his reading level. He moved quickly from F to K. Now he is working with his parents. They have asked for the next level (L).

These books are great. I use them with my remedial reading class. The wide variety of topics is especially appealing.

I have been in the regular classroom for 27 years. Next school year will find me teaching remedial reading and writing to the strugglers K-4. I have used Reading A-Z for the last few months now ( in my regular classroom) and have found it invaluable. The kids love the booklets that they get to keep, and I love the lesson plans and worksheets. Thank you so much for helping to make my life easier!
